Xcgal 2.0.1 was a little buggy, so xcgal 2.0.2 is released as a kind of bugfix version.

But I'm proud to add a very usefull feature for this release: watermarking. Watermarking can be turned on in module configuration. A default watermark file is stored in modules/xcgal/images/watermark_default.png. For an own watermark simply save your watermark.png into that folder. Requirements to use this feature are jpg pictures and GD support.

Does the watermarking feature actually change the base file or does it just overlay the watermark, leaving the base file in tact (without watermark)? I think Gallery actually re-writes the watermark over the base file. . .

The watermarking feature doesn't change the original file. The watermark itself is combined with the base pic and a new 'runtime' file is created.

When I enable watermark I do get this notice in http logs:

PHP Notice: Undefined variable: picturename in /fullpath/modules/xcgal/watermark.php on line 29,

referer:http://www.domainname.com/modules/xcgal/index.php?cat=2

and similar errors for every gallery page. Thumbnails are not shown, so no way to enter galleries. Added an .avi file and this file showed up as a thumbnail to enter gallery, all pictures within that gallery are replaced with 'Click to view full size image' and next page shows file name only.

Disabling watermark allows gallery image to show up fine.

Another problem with 2.0.13 is admin page where index page shows above xoopsbanner.

Gallery seams to work flawlessly.

Test system is 2.0.13

I don't know what happened, but all of the sudden I get the following error when I try to add a picture to any of my albums:

No picture was uploaded!

If you have really selected a picture to upload, check that the server allows file uploads...
[/error]

Any idea what might cause this? I haven't changed anything on the server.

Beavis,

Just a quick answer, if it helps, then we fine if not lets take this discussion off Comments and take it to forums. When you uploaded files you might have uploaded as a different user as your server runs. Make sure you have files in xcgal as the same user as Apache run. Issue command like 'ls -al' in modules and inside xcgal.

Let's keep this section shorter and use it for comments not for help.

Not all the original files will have a watermark now! Maybe you can change $bx value for improve.

There are some bug on this module. You can try explore about it. Exp:
- I can't "send E-Card"
- With change default the album directory & picture to another directory Failed.

Note: I use XOOPS 2.2.3 Final

I really like xcGallery, but somewhere along the line, either upgrading to XOOPS 2.2 or upgrading xcgal to 2.0.x, my favorite extra, the 'scrolling thumbnails' stopped working-- it now displays just five pics across and screws up the page's layout.

Any fix for this?

Question.

I want to remove the padding around the thumbnails and add a drop shadow instead. I know how to download and edit the template just not the correct code. Could someone post the corrected code for me?

I didn't, but it's not a bad idea to backup your image directory, or create a site backup to be safe. Once you upload the newer module just update in your modules admin section.

Whenever I try to upload a picture all I get is this message:

It happens when everything is set to default 755 or when I change to 777 so it's not a permissions thing. I get no other errors.

I am using XOOPS 2.2.4 and with almost 2,000 pictures on the site I have when I try to use batch add it crashes my browsers. I have tried IE6 and FF I tried using Linux even to help but still I get the same results it crashes the browser every time trying to do a batch add.

Back when I was using coppermine it would only show the most recent pictures that were not already in the database so I did not get the issue.

Hi I dunno if anyone else has had this problem. I have been testing this module on XOOPS 2.0.13.2 and I have encountered a smarty bug in this module.

What happens is when there is no caption written for a pic, "{$pic_caption}" returns a value of 2.

That is pictures that doesn't have a caption always have "2" underneath its title.

I dunno why this happen, or how to solve this. The only thing I can do is hide caption using the xcgal templates.

Okay, I have a problem when I use this module. It says "When using GD image gallery allowed image types are only only JPEG and PNG." WHEN I try to upload a .gif. Or batch add, too. Now, I use coppermine on the same server and I never have a problem. Just seems to happen with this module.

Search the module for _MD_GD_FILE_TYPE_ERR and remove the elseif-condition where this is define is in or in one case remove the warning and set the return to true.

Maybe this dirty! hack will help?

Can xcGallery 2.0.2 be used with XOOPS 2.0.13.2 ?

There is a problem with xcGallery 1RC1, to do with the scandir() function, it can only be used with php5, however, I see that version 2.0.2 has addressed this problem, by defining a seperate function to cater for php 4.x

While you are at it, why not consider the following feature requests.

Is it possible to include a feature whereby other webmasters, or bloggers can display pictures on their website? Something like "Webmasters: Display this picture on Your Page"

May be a script at the bottom of the picture, showing how to show display this picture on their page. Shouldn't be that hard I guess, Javascript will do? Could even make it Random Picture from "My Website".

Also it would be great if we can easily move around pictures from one album to another, with a simple few clicks. Say for instance if the picure does not fall into appropriate category, just move it.

Another one would be, instead of deleting the picture, a way to over write the picture with an image saying "Picture removed or Banned".

OR "login to see this picture image".

Another feature that I am thinking for my site is , making it possible for users to add certain pictures to their favourites. Like "Add this to my favourites". And have a My Favourites Folder or soemthing.

I know thats a lot to ask from. But thought some of them might be really easy to implement, if not all of them. Once i acquire enough knowledge to work throught this, I will definitely start adding them on my own

1- can the following fields in module config be changed after images are uploaded to gallery and without changing the image order of display?

The prefix for intermediate pictures *
The prefix for thumbnails *

2- Im trying to completely remove the sort option "Filename +-" and "Date +-" that appear in the the album pages. hacking the template seems to break the code. Any clues how to do this?

3- Can we upload mpegs with this version?

Sending e cards fails.

I use xcgal 1.1 on XOOPS 2.013_2, php mail, I can send e cards.

On another server : xcgal 2.02, XOOPS 2.2.4, php mail, I can't send postcards.
I get no bug message from xcgal debugger, but message : The server can't handle your request.

On both sites the mail system 'works' except for xcgal on the 2.2.4 site.

I am using XOOPS 2.2 and batch upload (Upload more pictures) - xcgal supports 4 pictures upload at same time, but I get only 1 in Admin Approve. Could you help me how to fix it?

Hey, thanks allot. I removed all those _MD_GD_FILE_TYPE_ERR errors from db_input.php and set the return to "true" in picmgmt.inc.php, and now it works perfectly.

This is the best gallery module that I've seen.

Does picture rating and ranking (number of times viewed) work for anyone? It didn't work for me in 1.1 and doesn't in 2.2 either.

I occasionally get a blank white page after clicking on a link, not sure what causes this either. I do use a Mac so it could be that, unless other people are seeing it with Windows too.

You can only change the size for all thumbs in xcgal-administration.

I would like to know how to change one of the custom fields so that I can enter the code for a paypal button. The code is quite long and currently it cuts off too soon. I tried changing it to 'text' but this didnt work too well, maybe I got the change wrong.

You have to change the fieldtype in the database.

standard is user1 varchar(255) NOT NULL default '';

You have to change it to TEXT or larger to MEDIUMTEXT

I just moved my site to a new server

since I moved it, I can no longer add images to an album. I ftp's a folder of images like I always do, but when I got to batch add them, instead of getting thumbnails, I get a image not found question mark graphic.

This is the URL for the blank image.

I'm using the latest 2.2.x of XOOPS and this worked on the previous server that was also using PHP 5.0.4

HI Guys,

I'm sure I did see it before, but I can't find it anymore, sorry.

When I want to edit a picture, the redirection directory will be (after "apply modifications") the main one instead of ....modules/xcgal/.....etc...

I can not edit my pictures now.

Any suggestions?

It will be highly appreciated.

When using the blocks, are they supposed to show up as the file name or an actual thumbnail? All I am getting is the filename for both the static or scrolling.

Just curious. Trying this module out on a another site before switching my other sites from myalbum.
So far, I like what this one has to offer more so than the myalbum. If I could just get the thumbnails to show up in blocks, we have a winner :)

I love this but a problem I have is the description on the pictures gets erased when I want to "Edit pics". When I make one, or them all with description I can see them, but when I "Edit pics" I get the description fields is empty and when I update there's no description.. I really want this to work. Any help?

I have exactly the same PROBLEM.

What I discovered: in XOOPS ver 2.0.18 all is working well.
Problem is in XOOPS ver. 2.3.2b

server/mysql/php configuration is the same for both versions (the same hosting)

Please, if anyone solved this issue, share your solution here.

Hi,

xcgal supports 4 pictures upload at same time, but I get only 1 in Admin Approve. Could you help me how to fix it?
