There was a news item 6 months ago about CD being up and running with XOOPS - that doesn't mean that the site was created on that date.
I kinda find it relevant for the community to have web templates for free - and when it is a XOOPS site that hosts them, it is even more relevant.
Why do you want your fellow XOOPS'ers to NOT get inspiration from these templates, Shine?
I agree that 8 news items in 8 months in the YAXS category may be a bit too much, but I think it has more to do with lack of relevant News topics than a desire to spam.
Maybe you could take a look at the topics we have in the News module and the news articles we get - and make a suggestion as to which topics we should have and for which purposes each should be used? You up for that?

This particular member has only posted about their website. 8 times at that. teacherma only has 2 posts/comments other than those 8 news articles announcing their site. If they were a true contributor to the community, I would think their post count would be a little higher than their announcements of their website. I'm sorry, but it truly comes across as spam to me.

My point was that the only contribution teacherma has offered since 2004/8/29 has been multiple news articles/posts about their website. This to me seems like nothing more than taking advantage of the XOOPS site page ranking and linking to improve one's own page rank. After all, the more posts on XOOPS, the more times the Google bots will see the link, the higher the page rank.
Quite frankly, if you've been around enough template shops, you'd know that teacherma is not offering anything on their site that cannot be freely downloaded at dozens of other sites. Where is the contribution?
Sorry, I just don't like it when people abuse the news system to increase their page rank. Especially if that's all the person has ever done in several months of membership.
Oh, and one more thing, you should carefully inspect the code of the templates you download from that site. I've seen several of those themes elsewhere for a fee. I'm not 100% convinced that all of the themes are being distributed in accordance with the original author's license.
But hey, what do I know, I'm just another member.
