One step closer to perfection?

Version 0.8 BETA has new features like:

- Permission system
- Plays any kind of multimedia
- New admin interface
- Assigning file types to players
- Categories with unlimited subcategories
- Use of getid3-class
and many more...

Unfortunately there are some flaws in design (especially personal player selection), so don't use on production sites!

I hope these flaws will vanish in version 0.9 which will have user playlists.

-missing picture on the index page
-can't seem to add midi extention
-i can't upload any mp3s even after i chmod everything.

maybe its just me don't know how to use the module well.

Did you read the content of the help page in debaser administration or even visited the preferences page of debaser?

Strange, I can. If you add an extention only 4 characters are allowed without the dot before.

I will try again with the module..
for the uploading part..

i tried on both side..
user and admin..
i upload the file and the progress bar below IE slowly show its being uploaded. then the page auto refreshed and i go to the index page and try to look for the mp3 i tried, it says "no files in this category or something like that"

Default for single file uploads is that they have to be approved. Go to administration and hit the approve-button.

In module's preferences you can change it to autoapprove.

darn, your this beta is way better than the last one. Great job bro.

by the way, please make it so that user do not have to select player for file type! it would be cool if the module detect the right player automatically

because some people dont know which player is the correct one and if they select the wrong one, they can't listen :)

Yes, that would be cool. But I think that it is impossible with PHP to detect which file extension is assigned to which player on a clients computer. The only thing I can do is to make some tooltips to show which player is capable playing which filetype.

hi francis
I saw a music site written in php and user do not have to select player. When I clicked on a realaudio song, real player loaded up automatically, and when clicked on .wma song, window media player load up.

something like , If file type ends is .ram, then play with realplayer ....
if ends with .wma then load window media player ...

I dont know how he did it but it's possible. dont remember the URL, I will send you the URL when find it.

@ninja: I know that this IS possible and that this would be the easiest way for programming the module, BUT what about files that can be played with different player, e.g. mp3?

From my point of view it is not good to force someone to use a special kind of software.

@limecity: no uninstall? I installed and uninstalled this module many many times with no problem.

I agree with you totally it's not good to force somone to use a special kind of software ....

however, i think it would be easier for user if you can make it so that by default, for example, .Ram will be played w/ real player... and .mp3, will be played with window media .
if they want to change player, they have the option to choose their favorite player.

by the way, mp3 can be played with different type of player, but .ram or .rm can only be played with realplayer, flash files can only be played with flash player .

Hi,

just to let you know that i sucessfully installed the module and i think IT'S GREAT !!! For people having problems, i guess reading the manual will solve them

a couple of comments:

I agree with others that the player choice is not such a good idea .. people who are not so computer savy just don't understand the difference ... i would preferr to choose the flash player as default, since my site uses flash so i know they have the plugin already installed

there seems to be a problem with the stylesheet, i couldn't figure out how to fix that (yet) .. there is no problem if i click on any of the deBaser, myDebaser, or the submit link, .. the page appears correct ... but as soon as i click on one of the categories, it seems to switch to a different stylesheet and my whole site goes out of shape

i would really like to be able to rename the submenu myDebaser into something else ... it doesnt mean anything to anyone ... i renamed the module to Music (for example) so i would like to rename myDebaser to 'Select Player Type' or 'Audio Preferences', sth more meaningfull ... the same goes for 'Submit MP3' (especially cause you now support other filetypes too) in fact, (as mentioned before, i would prefer to choose a default player and hide the myDebaser menu alltogether ..

the batch upload is the only thing i couldn't get to work, but i could live without that

otherwise, i couldn't believe my eyes how cool this Module is !!!

I have the same problem with not being able to upload with the 0.92 version. When I turn on php bug, it gives no bug errors. Unfortunately I will have to uninstall it because I can't seem to get anything uploaded.
