Digest is a web fetch module that allows you to fetch, display and monitor any desired content from internet and to display on your site.

A suggestion though... allow us to designate a reg exp to start and end the information we want and a checkbox to designate if we want the reg exp included in the results. Many pages I want to view don't have LINKS to the information I want to digest. When I go to a page "http://www.birdsnways.com/birds/bpreown.htm#sale" the information I want to digest aren't links they're just text (the ads).

Also this would fix my problem where the links the digest is returning all contain a prefix:
# Birds/Items Wanted: pairs wan-
# Birds/Items Wanted: macaw pai-
# Birds/Items Wanted: Macaw Bre-
# Birds/Items Wanted: Caiques i-
# Birds/Items Wanted: GREEN WIN-
I dont get to see anything useful. Either allow us to determine the length of the titles or use a regex replace feature. Allowing the admin to replace "Birds\/Items Wanted:\s" with "".

We will replace the freecontent digest with the digest. It was almost done when I saw the upgrade.

We have it translated to portuguese but still need some revision. We will make it available when done. If you are in a hurri ask Paula to sent it to you.

Paula posted some bugs/questions at the dev.xoops regarding the offset feature and some filters features.

Did this version had any bug fix??

Cant get this module to work completely.
Using it like freecontent am unable to get any information to show (using curl). No information shows in retrieval.

I searched for a chmod setting but saw none.

Any suggestions?

when I click on server status:
everything is "ok"
Except:
Iconv module:
Xconv Module
and "language conversion" -says Not available only works for ISO-8859-1

thats about all I know as to why it may not be working for me. Thanks for your support!

uhm really cant get this to work
Im usin xps2.6 is that a problem?
I have reg. globals off

and this strange problem even though I click update in the configuration area of admin the update column all say 1969-12-31 18:00 ->31-18:30
uhm, yeah thats wrong how do I fix that?

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: snoopy in \modules\digest\class\item.php on line 253

All I can say is , huh?

Here is line 253 (I think)
$basedir .= '/';
and as far as snoopy.php I think its in relation to _stripform function.

the 'update 1969-blahblah' means the items is not updated

Could you check \class\snoopy.php, what is on line 701?
The snoopy.php was changed in XOOPS 2.07
could you update the single file and see if it works?

That was it good fellow!

Strange I didnt realize there was a change in snoopy...(my previous version also said version 1.0.1) which is the same version I updated with but from the 2.07 patch package.

It works now. Now time to play with it.

P.S oh let me see what if difference in code....
Hmm At glancing I dont see the difference especially in line 701 I referenced. Strange...but the "updated" snoopy is working

For those interested:
Checked the CVS....it appears that their were some language specific characters that were causing fatal errors. That may have been the cause. It was fixed several months ago like (8)...i just never got it.

We love this module but havent made it public yet. The reason is because we dont want the results to appear on a seperate page, we want that page (with the update links) to be reserved for admin use.

Anywas...the blocks are great but what WOULD REALLY BE COOL, is if we could make a block that looks like the Digest index page , for news reults.

ie:the news item logo, the respective headlines.
This would be a nice clean block. With direct links to the sources.

Now I though I could fanangle the template but then I realized we are going to need to make a Block pho for this right?

Any suggestions? Anyone interested in this?

@DobePhat, I am not sure about your request but do you need a block having the same layout as the index page?
That can be done by changing the block template following the index template.

@davidl2, you can pull links from a specific forum by adding the forum id to the regexp

No, it doesnt work...
However, we may be doing it wrong...but the entire template does not work in the recent new block template as a replacement. Nor does just grabbing the entire <table>.

Unless there is a particular section that we should pull out of there.

Otherwise, Im assuming we need to make a correspnding php block maybe? In the directory of this module?

But yes what we are after is using the format of the headlines from the usual digest index page.

ie:The logo of the source and the headlines with direct links. (we are only using two sources)

I tried various parts of the template for the index page but nothing seems to work. THis is why I think we need to creat another php file or something. Hmmmmmmmmm
