Modules: multiMenu 1.4b - new version!

A new version of multiMenu is now available.

>> multiMenu 1.4b <<.

This new version now propose many template improvement. Amongst them, you know have the possibility to develop up to 9 different menu style :

- Standard menu (main menu like)
- Drop list
- Select box
- Fixed picture
- Sliding pictures
- Standard list
- Number list
- Slide list
- Scroll list

Please, visit blocks settings for more...

In the means time, the cache issue which prevented the cache to work properly on blocks is fixed.

Two new block are joining the company. Block A and B allow webmaster to pick up which multiMenu they want to show up...

To use this module, you have to uninstall previous version and reinstall this one from start. If you have data's you want to save, save and reinstall through your database.

I always like multi menu since its first version, but now it is almost perfect you did a nice work!

I have a question and a suggestion.

The question is: what difference there is between Slide list and Scroll list, I did not cacth it.

The suggestion is: what about allowing to defining with a checkbox, relative links?

When the checkbox of relative link is active, the module automatically add the root path of XOOPS.

example:

Link -> "/modules/news/"

Result -> "http://www.yoursite.com/modules/news/"

the implementation it is easy but it will increase the portability

Scroll list never stop, while the slide list stop moving when the destination is reached. Hard to explain, you can try, and you will see.

That's one of a greatest idea I ever heard about that module!

Going deeper in the idea, let's get ride of the check box and automatise the idea. For instance, if the url do not content the 'http://' thingy, it automatically add the relative link. *bookmark this comment*

Another point, I have added a little script which detect when a spider is visiting the page. If so, it transforms any menu in < ul> list and get ride of any marquee or script menu, which we all know is better for referencement.

Very Good Job.

In site XOOPS Brasil exist 9 menus in MultiMenu.
Perfect functions, but relatives links .... implementation manuals.

Done! Now multiMenu manage relative links wherever you are on the site.

The version is now 1.4c... But the link is still the same.

EDIT : for those who have already installed the 1.4b version, you just need to reupload the two 'modules/multiMenu/block/' files.

Nice menu module! I have a few feature requests for this

- submenu points in ulimited deepness
- installed modules selectable out of a list to generate links automatically (perhaps the submenu links in xoops_version.php of a module also)
- when submenu points are integrated only show active tree like in the current main menu

Would be great if you could integrate this features.

@ChadK: Try doing a reload (F5). It loaded perfectly for me the first time, second time I saw what you meant and did a reload which fixed it. Not quite sure what caused it though.

Very handy. My first idea to use it was to place my Partners pictures and links (via the Partners module) and use the sliding picture mode. I can't get anything but the blocktitle to show. Static picture mode works fine but that is just like the regular Partners block. Sliding/Scrolling would save me space. Anything special to make that work or am I misunderstanding what it does?

What do you mean by "block title to show" ? Can I see an exemple ? If you are talking about the block title, it's working fine, if you are talking about the link, have you checked the block settings ?

hehe, was the first thing to come to mind.

I thought I could have a scrolling list of pictures that link to the Partners module. It would take up only the size of one picture instead how many I put in a list like the regular Partners block. The scrolling would have visual impact in less space.

For picture I use the image link from the Partners module, title is whatever, Link is the same link as seen in the Partners module for that image.

In the Block I set Format to Scrolling Pictures, set picture size, 1 column, Speed and block height/width. Set the block to the right column.

On screen I see only the BlockTitle like any other block but otherwise empty. If I set the Block Format to anything else it works as expected.

@snkiller : the "c" is due to a minor change (relative links stuff) and didn't wanted to change version just for this.

@blueange : send me the italian version, and I'll include it, as I did for the Brazilian version.

only a couple of suggestions..

1)the picture field in the administration page of the module does not show the image if it is a relative path.

2)why dont' you point the root path of reltive images to XOOPS_ROOT_PATH? this way it should be more simple manage the images withouth all these "../../../" stuff :))

I was having a problem with scrolling images and have found the problem.

If I used an apostrophe ' in the text field it would prevent any image from showing in a scroll. I assume this would be the case for other punctuation marks. A few other modules had this same problem and I should have thought of it sooner.

Anyway, I have made a replacement Partners block with this and I like it. To maintain the click count in Partners I used the link from that image's Partners listing instead of a direct link. This passes the link through the partners module just like the normal Partners block.

Hi..
I really love this multimenu thing as it has the features i have been longing to have on my site.
But I would like to kno which file(s) to edit in order to change the "Multimenu " and display my custom title on my site.
I have searched and searched into all the files but i dont know which to edit ...I edited the english/modinfo.php but that changed ONLY the Admin Panel.
I'd like to put a different menu name for my visitors to c ...
Pls help me out

To change the name of the module, go to admin/module menu, there you click on the text multimenu (beneath the icon) and change it to you liking.
Then submit en confirm, you're done

i cant choose to select 1 or 0 (Show /Hide) for Multimenu.
Is this a problem ?

No, that's no problem, I just looked at it. The module is not displayed because the info is all in the blocks you make. So if you want to make a menu, choose a block that you want to display in the blocks menu, here you can also change the name, hope this is clear

Hi Solo,
First, thanks again for this super module. It just keeps getting better! MultiMenu is by far my favorite module. Its always one of the first to get installed just so I can track my admin links easily.

Im curious as to why it has not been placed in the XOOPS module download section. Im sure that more people would use it if they new more about it and saw some reviews.

Also, why the limitation to only 4 different menus? Is there a way to get more?

No idea why it isn't there. I submited it some times ago, but got no news about it.

As for the modules, You can have as much as you want. There is a little guide on my site or in the doc file which explains how to add new blocks. But I know that the guys of XOOPS Brasile have made one with more than 4 blocks ready for download.
