The 2cnt (2 Column, No Tables) theme is now available for download!

Special Features:
Theme files contain 0 Tables - All CSS Layout
2 column Layout with Header
No images
Right column joined with Left column

Description: This is a very clean, fast, and professional looking theme that is well suited for businesses and non-profit organizations. The colors are muted and very easy on the eyes.

Notes: This theme has only been tested with a default install of Xoops; therefore, I cannot guarantee compatibility with all modules. You may have to modify the code of 3rd-party modules so they won't break the theme. Due to the Smarty Template system's use of tables, this will not make your site 100% table-less.

TODO: Add custom Smarty template set to further enhance layout.

Ahh, I Feel much better now. Great job on the theme btw! Nice to see all .css themes starting to turn up more these days. Incama is also working on full .css, and we all know who good his themes are.

You .css types are going to be making a serious contribution to how the furture of the web is designed, seriously. the move to CSS is a going to be a big deal one day, so bone up on your CSS and get ready for CSS version 3, caus eit's going to make you instant gurus while the rest of the world plays catchup.

Yes, as you can tell, I beleive strongly in all .css layouts.

Yes, I'm fully aware of Incama's skill. He's an excellent coder. In fact, it was his work that inspired me to tackle doing a all CSS XOOPS theme. I had worked with CSS some before I came to Xoops, but seeing what can be done with XOOPS and CSS has really got me excited about developing my skills.

If anyone has noticed that certain XOOPS default modules have some alignment issues. This is due to the Smarty Template Engine. I should have a custom template set ready by next week that will fix these issues. I'll keep you posted.

You can clone and edit the default template set to correct these issues manually, if you wish. Most issues can be resolved by replacing

with

in the appropriate template.

If you're running several 3rd-Party modules on your site, you can fix most layout problems in the same manor, unless the layout for that module is hard coded into the module's files.

UPDATE:
I've repackaged the 2cnt theme with a template set that corrects some alignment issues with the Contact Us and the Notification Options forms. I also uploaded just the templates for direct download.

Most Excellent!!

I was trying to do this a while back with minimum modules involved. Then came across opportunity for a new site and implemented your great work!

I played with the CSS a bit for positioning and alignment etc. For a change I thought about making XOOPS look different, something like a news blog like those Wordpress, Moveable, and Drupal sites. Over the weekend I installed numerous GPL offerings and saw quite a few 'out of the box designs'. So I got at it this evening and came up with this site based on your theme and templates.

I still have some work to do (does this stuff ever end) especially since I'm color challenged.

If those of you with a box other than OS X would take a look see and comment I'd appreciate it... thanks.

This site will be used generally for news across a few topics so that's all I have installed in my NEW news blog for now. There may be a link module or gallery included somewhere down the road.

How difficult would it be to implement a hierarquical menu using only lists, a bit of CSS and even less Javascript, like the one in HTML Dog's Suckerfish page?

This is due to the Smarty templates. The 2cnt theme itself is pure table-less html, but Smarty does use tables. This can cause a real mess in certain situations if you don't do a little editing of the Smarty templates. I've released a template set that addresses most of the problems with the default XOOPS modules, but it's not out of the question that I may have missed something.

Could you be a little more specific as to what the Recent comments block is doing? Is it overlapping the right border? Is the box positioned strangly? etc...

Eventually, I plan to release a 1,2,3 column compatible theme and template set that is 100% table-less, but that's down the road a ways yet. Still have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

How important is search engine spidering to you? Some search engines don't spider DHTML menus. I thought about this one myself, but I was unable to find a solution that didn't break on IE or wasn't a real pain to setup.

I'd love to find a solution to this one as well since I'm really eager to replace the main menu block with a horizontal CSS drop-down menu that is search engine friendly.
