I have changed the Meta Tags and Footer via Preferences in the Admin section and the search engines still show "XOOPS is a dynamic Object Oriented based open source portal script written in PHP."

How do I fix this? Thank you.

You may still be looking at compiled template content that was cached before the change. You could try to purge the smarty compiled templates in the admin maintenance utility (broom icon). or you can delete them via FTP. Careful what you do in there. This should pertain only to the smarty compiled templates. With the cached content being deleted, XOOPS should then load and recompile your new changes on your next page load.

Normally recompile should have been automatic, but I am familiar with this same issue.

go to admin > preferences > system options > meta tags and footer
then change what you want.

Are you sure, it is not hard-coded in the theme?

Do you know what file it would be under in the theme? I'm checking now. I'm just using the theme "default." Thanks.

You can find it in directory themes/default/theme.html

Open with wordpad or html editor,

Go all the way to the bottom until you see



What you should see (normal) is this:

<tr id="footerbar">     <td><{$xoops_footer}>td>


But if instead you see this:

"XOOPS is a dynamic Object Oriented based open source portal script written in PHP"

Then Mamba guessed correctly when he asked:

Also try purging your browsers cache.
