Download Counter in block

I have a download available in a custom block that appears on every page.

Is there a way I can add a download counter?

Or should I add it to my downloads section and then link it to there in order to get a count?

I want to see how many people are downloading my android apps

use a download module is always better than a hardcode link.

but if you want to have a counter for a single link hits, the only module can help you is userlog:

I couldn't find any good scripts that would do it, so i ended up adding the mimetype to tdmdownloads and putting them there with a direct link in the block to the download page.

seems to be working

It's time for you to upgrade to XOOPS 2.5.5 (soon 2.5.6)

This module won't work on your version, because it requires several features that are only in XOOPS 2.5.5

Always read the readme.txt before install any module.

i tried 2.5.5 and couldn't get it to install on xampp

Xoops 2.5.5 is stabled from more than one year ago so you must be able to install/upgrade.

maybe your xampp use php 5.4 then it is better to try xoops 2.5.6
but anyway xoops 2.5.5 could be installed in php 5.4 with some warnings and notices.
