2.5.5 - ControlPanel> Preferences> General Settings error

Fresh install, all seems fine but when I click "Go!" (i.e. save) on the General Settings page I get an error:
"Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /modules/system/admin.php could not be found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

All other pages in the 'Preferences' section (e.g. User Info Settings) work fine.

Any thoughts?

That's very strange!

Run a file check to see if you have all the required files (copy the filecheck files from the main folder of the Zip file).

I assume that all the write permissions on folders are correct, but can you confirm it?

What PHP version are you running?

PHP Version 5.3.13
MySQL Version 5.1.65

Will check if any files are missing (I simply unzipped and uploaded all to server)

Have run checksum on the server and only shows the files in 'install' (deleted) and both 'xoops_lib' and 'xoops_data' (renamed) as missing.
I guess I can live without General Settings working if I know how to edit the database fields (have found some of them but don't have details of variables) but others may not be able to do that.

Hmm.. I never thought of that possibility - I wondered if it was a bug in the code but could not think why it was just for that one page. Will try your suggestions.
