You might need to reboot server.

Otherwise, please give us examples of the errors, so we can see where they are coming from.

The normal default setting is that XOOPS errors/notices are visible only to the Admin, and you can enable/disable them in Admin Preferences.

It seems like you're using PHP 5.4.

XOOPS 2.5.5 is tested only on PHP 5.3, therefore there might be some issues with PHP 5.4. More than 90% of host providers are offering only PHP 5.2 and recently increasingly PHP 5.3.

Our upcoming XOOPS 2.6.0 will be tested/certified for PHP 5.4.

To be honest, I don't think that the Core developers will not have the time to look into XOOPS 2.5.5 to make it PHP 5.4 compatible.

Can you test it on PHP 5.3?

I know this is a really old thread, but thought it may still help someone.

I had downloaded and installed 64 bit Wampserver today.
I downloaded the version that contained PHP 5.4
"Apache 2.2.22 – Mysql 5.5.24 – PHP 5.4.3 XDebug 2.1.2 XDC 1.5 PhpMyadmin 3.4.10.1 SQLBuddy 1.3.3 webGrind 1.0"
and I had the same errors when going through the installation.

I then downloaded and installed Wampserver with the 5.3.13 PHP and it then installed without any errors.
"Apache 2.2.22 – Mysql 5.5.24 – PHP 5.3.13 XDebug 2.1.2 XDC 1.5 PhpMyadmin 3.4.10.1 SQLBuddy 1.3.3 webGrind 1.0"

I am testing everything on my local machine before I purchase a domain name and hosting.

The upcoming XOOPS 2.5.6 is being tested on PHP 5.4.13, and so far is working just fine.

The main purpose for updating XOOPS 2.5.5 to 2.5.6 was to make it compatible with PHP 5.4.x

So please download XOOPS 2.5.6 from our SVN and test it on PHP 5.4, and let us know how it works.

If you don't use tools like TortoiseSVN, you can download it using this tool

Hello Mamba,

I deleted everything and started over. Pretty good at this on a local install
I have PHP 5.4 installed and I downloaded and installed the 2.5.6.

I went through the install process and came up with no errors. I chose yes to install the additional modules that were offered and again, no errors.

Changing permissions in Windows7 stinks. I am used to Linux and it is much easier. Maybe if I did it with FTP software it would be easier but it's been a while.

I need to learn how to use the tool you suggested, TortoiseSVN.
I downloaded it.
I didn't find it to intuitive but I'll figure it out.

Thanks for the help and I hope this gives you a little feedback also.

Excellent!

If you're using WAMPServer, you don't have to do anything there. You only need to care about it when you are trying to modify mainfile.php and security.php files, because XOOPS sets them as "read only". Other than that, I never ever need to change any permissions of any folders or files on Windows and my WAMPServer.

TortoiseSVN is probably the most user friendly SVN client. Just use it with your Windows Explorer by using the Right-click on a folder.

WAMP site has an archive for older versions of PHP if you run in to that issue.

While 5.26 may work, it is not advised as it is at least 5.years old with many layers of risk to be concerned about.
