Defacer is one of the modules I frequently use, it really makes a difference when designing sites. As far as I noticed the module works well under Xoops 2.5.4, but why not give it a new admin Gui lift? It would be a nice way to bring back a useful and underrated module into attention!

OK, Defacer got a "facelift"

You can test it and let us know if it works. This was just a quick & dirty conversion, so once tested, it will need some code cleanup.
