I'm somewhat shame faced to ask this but ...

I seem to have put an old installation of Xoops into Maintenance mode and it's so long ago, I can't for the life of me remember how I did it, or how to login when Xoops is in maintenance mode -- if such a thing is possible.

Would I have had to do it manually or is there a maintenance mode setting in Xoops? I can't find any mention of it in the documentation for Xoops.

I currently have in the main xoops directory two index files:

- index.html
- index2.php

the index.html file just has the text "We're sorry, the site is currently down for maintenance. Please come back soon." And nothing else.

I cannot for the life of me remember whether I made that index.html page manually or wether it's something Xoops does if you can put it in maintenance mode.

On index2.php it has:

When I go to http://www.mysite.org/xoops/modules/system/admin.php

I get a page with the theme elements but no content. The tabs for the modules are there but when you click on them, the message comes up "Selected module does not exist!"

And there's no way to login.

The Xoops directory folder is protected by amember, but I don't see anywhere in aMember to set it to maintenance mode, so I'm assuming it's something I did manually or via Xoops control panel.

Any ideas -- and don't be too smug ;)

1) Rename index.html to index2.html
2) Rename index2.php to index.php

That should do it, based on your description. If not, come back and tell us what is happening when your go to your Website, after you did the renaming.

Thanks for getting in touch so quickly.

I've changed the files (and emptied templates_c) and I'm getting the theme, and menu tabs to modules, but still no content or login form, and getting 'Selected module does not exist!' message when you click on tab, although all modules are present and correct in the /modules dir.

There is a fantversion.php file in the main Xoops folder that says Version 2.0.16. so assuming I'm on 2.0.16 if that's any help.

I can log into aMember by going to http:// www. awakenwomen .org/ member/member.php but when I click on the 'product' link in there it again takes me to the main xoops folder at ..../innercircle, but still no content.

So still going on the fact it's something to do with Xoops -- of course, I could be wrong ... :(

I can see it, but I think, it's just very outdated, and possibly messed up, installation.

It might need some professional help to get you going. If you willing to learn and invest time, we can probably help you, but it will take some time...

First things:

- what PHP version are you using?
- do you have access to FTP?
- do you have access to phpMyAdmin and the database?

I have access to FTP and to PHPAdmin, databases etc, via cPanel.

PHP 5.2.17 (cgi-fcgi)
MySQL 5.1.52

On a Linux (not Windows) server.

The PHP version is good, so it should be possible to update to the latest version of XOOPS.

Check your mainfile.php and see where is it URL pointing too internally.

I am a little bit confused which URL is the correct one, since it seems like you have two of them.
