Last week I cleared out my cache/smarty_cache and smarty_compile files. This solved my original problem (topic: 6gb smarty_cache). Unfortunately when I login as admin I can't change anything. eg I go to Preferences change, theme and it doesn't change. If I try to upload a module, nothing changes.
I've tried changing php.ini to change 'register_global ON' but this doesn't help. I've repaired all xoops tables using phpMyAmin and still not change. I read somewhere that if I did an upgrade of xoops this may help, but I can't upgrade if nothing in Admin works.
Help!!

Hello, I don't seem to be getting any response to my dilemma. Is there anyone out there who can help. I can only login to my site by checking the 'remember me' box. Once in I can't change anything in the Admin section. What has happened to my xoops site, it was working great before.
Please help

1) You should put the Globals back to OFF

2) How did you cleared the caches?

3) Can set the debug on, and see what error messages are you getting?

You need to provide more information in order to help you.

Thanks Mamba:
I did reset the globals to OFF
I deleted the smarty_cache, smarty_compile files and then recreated them with 777 chmod
Can't reset debug, nothing happens when I change anything in Preferences --> General Settings, it just saying "taking you back to where you were"

Hi everyone,
I am new on the forum and really need your help..

I think I have the same problem as Mandrew.
My website used to work fine until I had problem login into my admin account. No user is now able to post any new articles, I can't login as admin if i don't tick the remember me box (and somtimes, it even doesn't work) and I can't change anything in the administration: I only get the returning to where you were message.

I tried to upgrade but couldn't, so I went back to where i was. I tried to delete the content of the cache directory, except the index.html.
Finally, I tried to turn on the debug mode but I can't since no change in the administration is saved.

Here are the details of my website configuration :

XOOPS Version: 2.4.4
Server API Version - cgi
PHP Version: 4.4.9
MySQL Version: 5.0.90-log
Web Server Software (Apache/IIS/Other):
Operating System: Linux
Theme you are using:Urbanite
Custom template: Yes
PHP Debug Messages:none
MySQL Debug Messages: none
Smarty Debug Messages:none
safe_mode - Off
register_globals - On
magic_quotes_gpc - On
allow_url_fopen - On
fsockopen - On
allow_call_time_pass_reference - On
post_max_size - 64M
max_input_time - -1
output_buffering -
max_execution_time - 30
memory_limit -
file_uploads - On
upload_max_filesize - 64M

Thank you for your time

Try to repair the tables and clear cache.

If this doesn't help, try to clear the sessions table.

Sometimes that helps..
