ForMuss just uploaded the new AJAX-ed System module to the SVN Trunk, thus starting the official XOOPS 2.5 journey.

We hope to release the Alpha within the next week or so, but if you can't wait that long to put your hands on the code, then download the Pre-Alpha code from SourceForge SVN

Please note: "Pre-Alpha" and "Alpha" releases are moving targets, i.e. there will be a lot of changes, and there are no guarantees that anything will stay for the final release.

When testing, install it as a NEW installation.

Do NOT EVER update any of your existing production sites to this code!!!

The new System module uses extensively jQuery - please check out Blocks, Templates, and Image Manager, plus tons of other cool features to see and appreciate the changes.

ForMuss, Kraven, and Mage did an awesome work, and that's why they are our Innovators of the Month in January!!!

With developments like this, 2010 will be so much FUN!!!

Sure!
Please note: this is a Pre-Alpha, therefore is not "feature-complete". Actually, our Alphas will also not be "feature-complete", so there will be pieces missing, and this is more focus on testing of concepts than individual finalized features. So we have to expect bugs, missing features, buttons that don't work, and we have to be OK with it

While we appreciate any comments and bug report, please do not expect that it will work 100%.

Sure, you can enter your wishes in the Wiki Wishlist

Please note that XOOPS 2.5 will focus on optimization and refactoring for PHP5 and MySQL 5. We use the opportunity to refactor the System module, but our focus is not on adding new features. They will come in later releases: 2.6 and/or 3.0.

But please submit all your requests because it's important to know what the community is looking for.

Thanks for this pre-alpha!

1. Not sure if it's a bug or not. But when I click on "users" in admin it says "This section is not active!"
(mysite.com/modules/system/admin.php?fct=users). I have tried to register a user and uninstall the profile module. But same problem.

2. How do I add one of the blocks in the core? (who online, new members block etc). I can't find it. I can only create custom blocks. I can't see the custom blocks I've created either.

3. Language error in profile module?

Resized Image

4. Language error 2: If i delete a comment I see "_AM_DBUPDATED"

You just have to set properly the criteria on top (e.g. select "All types" in the "Visible" drop-down menu)
