Is there any way of blocking 1 or 2 url's in CBB 3?

There is one site (my competition) that I need to block someone posting a link to their site. I have people from the site registering and posting a link to their website, which is destroying my site.
Is there a way I can stop this one URL from being posted?

I need to still allow other people to post links to sites like ebay and useful sites, but just not this one. Is there any way of doing this? Even hacking the core files? I am not fluent with PHP, but I am sure someone with the know-how can do it.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

Also, another thing. I have tried using the word censor and putting the URL there, but it does not work.

I cannot use the IP blocker as they are using proxy sites and IP scrambler.

Thanks again

Normally the word censor would do it.

Try using the exact domain perhaps?

Do you have msn, if so Private Message me your details and I'll assist you further.
Kind Regards.

Another thing, do they always use the same domain ending, or do they use hotmail or such?

If they tend to use their own domain for registering you could always block those domains, in the user info settings:

Admin ---> Preferences ---> User Info Settings

Quote:
Enter emails that should not be used in user profile

Separate each with a |, case insensitive, regex enabled.
Kind Regards.

Hi tom, thanks for the reply. I have PM'd you my msn.

They just keep registering new free addresses from various place to register, I get weird ones like 4gvg324vh443@25673.com, so it is uncontrollable from that aspect, I did try the exact domain in the word censor but it doesn't seem to work, I just tried again and still no luck.

I have just had to delete another post from them and delete user again. It is very stressful. As I have to keep my eye on the site 24/7

Thanks again

What syntax are you using to censor the url?

Do you have protector installed? If so, which version? v3.16beta has some auto-registration-bot protection.

Also, do you have something like Captcha or Wishcraft's auto spambot protector installed?

Whilst we're on the subject; change the activation setting (Preferences>User Info Settings) to "Activation by Administrators" as a temporary measure.

In user settings, do you allow users to change their email address? If you do, try setting this to disallow it - you might be surprised at the results

Hope that at least some of this helps.
