Hi,

What are the core.xxxx (core.2639) files that I have under my root path, i've got a couple of this files, 102 Mb each one.....

Eeek!! Definitely not part of the standard XOOPS install.

In which directory are they?

I suggest you rename them and move them out of your XOOPS install until you know what they are.
