i' using module NEWS

and i'm little confused by category topic and post

why there has to be some topic first to post some news
topic is like the news so what is news

Think of topic as a category. Due to database constraints, a news article must have a topic. So, make a topic (maybe call it General) and away you go. If you have only one topic, then everything will be under that one topic, and no other categories are used, prompted for, etc.
