Xoops Integration with ohter systems...

Hi, I'm kind of new in Xoops...but i intend to use it on my project...so the problem is that i want to install XOOPS in a place that already contains a site with his own database and system...
So...my question is...is there an easy way to integrate XOOPS with already existing (legacy) systems and database?
