Hi,

I installed verion 2.0.17.1 on a local machine. Everything went nicely. But I only get the System module in my module list.

Where to get the Official Modules mentioned in the introduction document?

Your installation has proceeded correctly.

What sort of use do you intend for your site? Tell what you want and we'll point you in the right direction.

However, I'd start with:

1. Protector 3.04a from GIJoe. This is probably the only truly "must have" module.

Download the Madfish's installation instructions, linked from the above page, and follow them absolutely step by step as it needs a bit more care than other modules to install.

There is a 3.15 beta version also available and I've read positive reports about it. You might want to go for that straight off.

2. News 1.56 from Instant Zero. Possibly the most widely used of all modules and well supported by Hervé, Marco and the gang.

3. If you want an online diary/calendar then I'd recommend eXtCal from http://www.zoullou.net/. Great module and Zoullou's support is good, too.

4. For content I use SmartSection 2.13 from Smart Factory. Good support is available and it's actively developed by a team that includes one of the Core Devs.

There are others, so try them and make up your own mind

After that, what do you need? Forums? Photo Gallery? Wiki?

Tell us and we'll help

Thanks for the quick reply. I will definitely take a look at the modules you suggested. But I'd like to try one or two modules from the official module list first:

• News
• NewBB
• Polls
• Web Links
• Downloads
• Headlines
• FAQ
• Partners
• Members
• Contact Us

I have tried searching the Module Repository page. But no result. So where can I to get those modules?

Newbb = "CBB" currently 3.08 also need "Frameworks"
Polls = "XOOPSpoll"
WebLinks = So many modules available, browse news
Downloads = Still love "wfdownloads" (but there are others)
Headlines = (RSS? if so "planet" module is killer.)("Spotlight"?)
FAQ = cant beat "smartfaq" imo
Partners = well, "smartpartner"
Members = toughy, haven't used a members modules in a while "xmmemberstats" maybe
Conact Us = an ooldy but a goody "Contact Us"

Okay. Downloaded and installed my first module, AMS. Works perfectly. Very nice.

However, the second module, marquee, is not showing up in the module list after copying the marquee/ directory under the module/.

Anyone knows why?

look in the marquee folder and see if there is a file directly inside the folder called....

xoops_version.php

if this file is not directly in the top folder then you uploaded the wrong folder.

sometimes the actual folder that is to be uploaded is a few layers down.

Problem solved!

system/admin.php script failed to generate the list of new modules (HTML document incomplete). This was caused by the "magazine1.2" module I downloaded earlier. I removed this bad module. system/admin.php is working again.

Thanks for the replies.
