So suddenly without any reason my News module admin stopped working:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/dreng/public_html/gimle/modules/news/admin/index.php on line 558

Whats wrong? I've tried to empty the cache and templates_c. I am running XOOPS 2.2.x and News 1.44. I have had a lot of problems with this Xoops-version but never before with the News-module...

Open the file referenced by the error in a text editor and use the "Go to line" command (most editors have it or an equivalent) to go to line 558, then see of there is a duplicat e '<' somewhere on, or near that line.

Alternately, try reinstalling the module's files.
