Without looking any further then basic's try re-uploading it...

I have installed and re-installed XOOPS on countless servers with ease and most of the time if something isn't working it is down to me...

Someone may have more info on where that error is from

Its morning, got a little sleep. I didn't recognize the preg_match() as a PHP function.

Since the error is that the function is undefined, I must not have all the PHP modules needed.

I'll look into that. Anyone else have an idea, thanks in advance.

PCRE is enabled on Windows versions of PHP by default - phpinfo() will tell you if it is enabled on your distribution.

Good Luck!

Just a follow-up. Had to re-make the php with pcre dso. Wasn't part of the default distro (surprising). As a note, besides the actions listed in the FAQs to see error messages instead of blank pages with page-errors, on the install.php, there was a function to disable error messages that I had to enable.
