Full description of the issue :

I am probably the newest kid on the block. I have just downloaded version 2.0.15 and extracted the files. My hosting package is set up so that the root directory is xoopytester.co.uk/htdocs. I have uploaded the contents of the htdocs folder from the package (cache folder etc and all the files) to the root directory. When I go into the site to launch the 'Welcome' screen I get nine error messages, all similar to the one following.

Warning: main(mainfile.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/fhlinux186/x/xoopytester.co.uk/user/htdocs/index.php on line 35.

My natural instinct would be to rename the htdocs folder to 'user', create a subfolder of it called 'htdocs' and then upload the files to that. Is this correct or have I missed something?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid no luck with that either. All I get is another error message which says,

"You can not access this XOOPS installer."

Is there any reason why I shouldn't try altering the folder structure on my hosted server as outlined in my original post. I don't want to wreck everything.

Problem now solved.

It transpired that somewhere in the downloading / extraction and uploading process some of the files went walkabout.

Downloaded 2.0.15 from a different site and all is now OK.

For reference, the properties show 653 files in 75 folders. Total size on disk 5,087,232 bytes.

FYI (and others that may come across this post) if it happens again (say you move hosts, need to reinstall, etc.), there is a built in checksum script in the distribution root...
