Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I've poked around for this but I haven't found anything, I'm hoping someone somewhere has already laid the groundwork for this.

I'm taking part in National Novel Writing Month. A contest which challenges people to write 50,000 words in one month (http://www.nanowrimo.org) It which uses XOOPS for it's content management. One of the features within the system is an update of the word count for your novel. What I'm trying to do is provide a way to do that remotely. Namely through a Mac OS X widget.

For those of you who don't know, a widget is merely a webpage running locally on Mac OS X. Essentially just HTML and javascript.

I can update the wordcount just fine as long as my page has access to the cookie which the site creates (via xoops) to identify the user. However, I do not have a way to send or set that data so the system knows who the user is before sending the word count data.

I know there's some secret mixture here that I'm missing. I'm fluent in PHP and I've tried scouring the source of XOOPS for the answer, but I just can't seem to find it. Is there a way to have javascript within the page (or rather the widget) to set the session for the user and password?

Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated!
