To validate my post, I did search alot of pages in the install troubleshooting. Does anyone know which folder index php. should be? and does anyone know if indexes from a control panel should be on/off, fancy ect.?

public_html/mydomain/xoops-2.0.14

I'm shure newbies will find this info helpful as well. Thank you

index.php should be in the root of your host folder - public_html/mydomain/index.php. When you upload to your host, the installation instructions tell you to upload the files and folders in the html (htdocs) folder, but not the folder.

From a security perspective, I would turn indexes off - if I understand what you are asking. Having indexes on will display a list of files in your folders if the host does not find a default file to display (index.php, index.html, index.htm, home.htm, default.htm - depends on your server configuration)

to extend a little more... the index.php should be in every folder you want to show a page just geting into a folder... not only in the of your host folder , like

http://www.mysite.com
http://www.mysite.com/modules/mymodule
http://www.mysite.com/modules/mymodule/admin

if you put that in your browser and you have a index.php inside a page will be shown automatically showing the content of index.php, ofcourse...

In a production server you should turn of the indexing option, just for security. XOOPS includes in the folders where isnt a index.php a index.html, which redirects you to your last visited page, that is for not showing the list of archives if the indexing option is on.

Ofcourse that all written before depends of your server configuration as skenow said
