I notice that there is no field for a persons sex
I.E
male / female
it would be a nice extra on the register form.
I would do it myself but I know very little about how to hack the code.

At a future date it will be possible to add custom fields for this sort of thing. This feature exists in XOOPS 2.2.x, and will be included at a later date in XOOPS 2.4.

Profiles.

Unless you're using 2.2.x already - we don't recommend using the release.

in my admin area it just says XOOPS version 2

The line at the bottom of your admin section should display the version number.

If you have XOOPS 2.0.x you will have Images for every module on the left screen side.

If you have XOOPS 2.2.x the general admin area consists of pulldown menus.
