When some users try and register my site they fill in their details and then they press finish and then they get the following message: "Could not register new user"

Some, because when i try doing it, it works fine but i asked two of the people to try it for me and they both got same error.

Try setting your name restrictions to light, and make sure they are not trying to re-register with the same email. also disable email activation, try automatically.

Starnge, it has to be a user error.

I have allready tried all that still does not seem to work i tried that, was the first thing i did. Cant seem to see what is wrong. They are registering with their @hotmail.com addresses and thats not blocked in the list dunno.

hmmm wasnt there an issue with hotmail and xoops? let me search around for a bit.

oh erm dunno, lol if you find something then tell me, the activation is on auto thought so i didnt think it would matter.

Yeh i also got him to signup with a random email address like hello@mymail.com and that still did not work but if i do it, it seems to work, they say there filling it all in correctly.

I registered just fine. are you using xoops_protector?
