Perhaps there's a way to do this already, and I haven't figured it out. In any case, it seems like the "Product Types" don't currently line up with the what I can see as categories in the "browse" drop down box on Amazon's home page. For instance, apparel, office, pet supplies, sporting goods, home furnishings, arts & hobbies are not in Xooperstore.

Look at the function bookstore_get_modes_base(), and update the category list for your country. (You'll also want to add a language specific string for each category under language/english/admin.php (or whatever language you use).
