Help: Unraveling the mystery of Yahoo search results

I created a XOOPS site, and when I search for it on Yahoo, my user profile is coming up as the home page of the site. In other words, the search result gives the site name, but when I click on the link, it takes me to my user profile.

This is odd, since the anonymous users group doesn't have access to the members mod.

I've already resubmitted the site to Yahoo... does anybody have any ideas or suggestions on what I should do to correct this?

Thanks in advance,

Kristine

is there a PHP session id in the link? That one of the only ways I can see that an anonymous user may gain access, using the session id of someone with permissions. This can be disabled in php.ini or .htaccess.

I noticed this with out site a year ago. XOOPS isn't exactly search engine optimised and requires a little help. I would recommend reading the Google SEO guide. This will show you how to create custom page titles and descriptions.

I would also check your meta tags through Admin menu > Preferences > System > Meta Tags and Footer.

Thanks for both your responses...

jdseymour - No, there's no session ID. The link that comes up ishttp://www.mysite.com/userinfo.php?uid=1
Odd considering anonymous users aren't supposed to have access to the member module.

guardian2k1 - I'll take a look at the link you provided. Google links right to the home page, so I'm guessing this is a 'feature' of yahoo?

I also rechecked my meta tags, all seems ok there. This mis-link is certainly a head scratcher!

If you have any other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them!

Thanks again for your help,

Kristine
