Hi

Looking for module that works in 2.2.3 that would allow the following:

When users are loged on other users can send message/chat back and fourth without the user havng to check private messages or go into a chat room. Basically like a pop up that would appear so that the mesage would display or that both users can chat back and forth.

Does anybody know of such a module?

So far, I haven't seen anything that does exactly what you're wanting to do. The closest I've seen it the chat modules in the repository. To be honest, I haven't tested any of them on 2.2.3, so I can't make any gurantees there.

Tried all chat modules on 2.2.3 and none seem to work!

Sorry, but I don't believe there is currently a module that will do what you want. You may want to request that one be created, but as you may expect, whether it will get created will depend on whether a module developer has the time and interest in another project.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Suggestion.... if you look at the link in JM's signiture - theres a link to "Xoops For Dummies"

If you check the information on creating a simple XOOPS module - then create a very basic XOOPS Dummy module.

In this area, use a Java IRC client like JIRC - and take the html and insert this into the index.php in the dummy module.

You then have a very basic IRC based chat module which should work in Xoops.

Try the module shoutbox in the module repository.
It's very simple and i have run it in a 2.2.3 test environment. Maybe it fits your needs.

Have tried shoutbox but don't know what they mean by:

System Admin - Modules. Set order to '0'.

As I have gone to Modules Administration and set the order box to 0 and all it does is then hide the page from me.

Any ideas on what I need to do so that I can see it working.
