Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get users registered and a couple have managed to register ok, but many are getting this message:
" No valid security token found in session"

Does this have sth to do with cookies? Whatever it is, can anyone help me with clear instructions of what to tell others?

thanks in advance
:)

Log in to your adminpanel, then go to System >> Preferences, choose General Settings (the one under System Preferences).

Find Use custom session and enable it with setting it to yes, then find Session expiration (it should be right below) and increase the value.
Mine is set to 45, but you can use whatever you want

Thanks so much for responding Bananadude. But I had all that already done, mine was set to over 1000.

Try with repairing your database, maybe that will help you out.

If you use phpMyAdmin it can be easily done from there.
From phpMyAdmin frontpanel click Databases, click on your XOOPS database, find your session table and mark the box or just go to the buttom and choose "select all".
From the dropdownbox "With selected:" choose Repair table.

Can't say 100% for sure, because only some people experienced it. But I haven't had anyone mention it since and I've had about 20 new registrations.

good luck :)

Ok, well, I figured out a way to fix this if anyone is still having problems. I noticed this happened to me when I stupidly entered 999999999999999 for the expiration...which can be perceived as a negative number...soo...if you have phpMyAdmin, this is a breeze to fix.

1. Open phpMyAdmin
2. Choose your database in the dropdown on the left
3. On the right-side find the category: xoops_config and click on the Browse button.
4. Under the heading conf_name, look for session_expire
5. Click on the Pencil to edit it.
6. Change the conf_value from 999999999999 to 45.
7. Make sure Save is selected as well as Go back to previous menu, in the bottom pull down menus and choose Go.

Your database will be updated, and the expiration time set back to 45. Now you can post and edit your preferences without getting the token expiration message.

I hope this helps someone out! (not bad for my third day with this software)
