WF-Downloads Category Sort Order

Is there a way to set the default sort order for a category in WF-Downloads?

I know you can set the sort order manually from the page but I would like to set a default sort order that is active when a user visits that category.

I could probably hack the template to add the string to the URL but I thought there may be another way.

any ideas?
