I most setup for a chess club a easy website so they can add on a simple way news. I have check the XOOPS demo page but i cant find how to add news items. Do i need some module for it ?

Where i'm looking for is the follow. When a user adds a news item then most XOOPS add automaticaly add a category logo. Or the user can select the logo very easy. When its slected then the logo is shows on de left or right in the corner of the news item. Is this posselbel whit XOOPS ? I cant find it in the documentation.

You need a News or AMS modules. Both are similar but with different features. What version of XOOPS you are using? Xoops2.2.x does not include extra modules, you have to get module packs.

The best way is to play around and test.
