News 1.4 - No Recent News Block showing

I have a fresh install of News 1.4 (not an upgrade) on my XOOPS 2.2.2 PHP5 system. I have a friend who tested on his system with this module and said he got the recent news block to show in the center one time, but never after.

I can't even get it to show, period. The News page from the menu seems to work just fine and I'm certain I have permissions set for viewing. It's just recent news from what I can tell. The Big Story and News Topics work just fine.

I have the similar problem with Recent News! Once I change the number of articles shown or the lenght of the title, the Recent News block doesn't show up.

Anybody has a fix for this??????

If the permissions are correctly set, then it could be that a topic hasn't been selected in the block options.

Double check that there's a topic highlighted under "Select topic(s) to use"...

enter this block options set your values and SELECT ALL CATEGORIES and press ok.

Nope... still no dice. I tried turning on the spotlight and still the recent news block won't show. There's only one category right now and it's selected.

Edit... the only category showed up, but you HAVE to select the category still. Once I did so, the pagelet shows!
