Im currently using 2.0.13 I didnt update to 2.2 because I read there was many errors and bugs, now that 2.1 is released am I recommended to update to 2.2 then to 2.1 or can I directly go from 2.0.13 to 2.1? I tried looking in the download section but I didnt find any updates from 2.0.13 to 2.1 there's only from .13 to 2.2

any help please?

Re: Updates question

You can update from 2.0.13 directly to 2.2.1, Follow these steps:

Download the full package and unzip it on your local computer.

Remove the install folder and mainfile.php from the files in the HTML folder on your computer.

Upload all files and folders inside the HTML folder to your current XOOPS installation directory on your server. Follow the instructions in the update.html in the docs folder on your local computer and/or see the XOOPS 2.0.13 to 2.2 Flash Tutorial and follow the instructions.

Re: Updates question

The hotfix is included in 2.2.1.

But as with any major upgrade such as this, backup the entire site before changing anything.

Re: Updates question

Backing up the database is the most important for any CMS, but I also would backup the files to my local computer so they can be shot back to the server just in case the need arises.

It is good practice to backup this way on a regular basis though as you never know when a server could die.

Are there any basic/simple instructions on 'How to backup both the database and the site files' for the no computer experts?

It would be nice to have it in the FAQ.

EDIT: Sorry, I found it in the XOOPS FAQ of cource!
