I downloaded and installed XOOPS 2.2 and got it working with the phpkaox theme.

I added an account type field to the user profile, and that works well.

Can I specify which group a user is in depending on the value of that new field in the user profile?

What I'm doing is a horse show registration system. I want people to be able to register as Riders, or Show Organizers. If they're a rider, they get all the rider functions. If they're a show organizer, they get different functions. I was going to display either a rider block or an organizer block based on group, which I was hoping to set when they registered.

I do not believe that functionality is built into the current default profiles module. But the main reason that it was modularized is so that other, more functional modules can be written for the purpose. I would expect that over time some of these gaps between desires and functionality will begin to close as more developers take advantage of new possibilities of XOOPS 2.2.

Yes it is because ive just done it with the help of some kind people here ...

First in admin .. users ... groups ... make up your groups eg .. riders and show organizers

Am just going off to find the post that helped me and I'll come back and put a link here
