Protector. Ban IP syntax - same as Xoops?

Is the syntax to ban IP addresses in XOOPS Protector 2.40 RC2 the same as for XOOPS prefs?, eg:
^aaa.bbb.ccc|aaa.bbb.ccc$

Also, do I enter banned IPs just in Protector, in prefs, or in both?

The one in Protector is the same one as the one in the prefs. So the syntax is the same and you can enter IPs in either.
