Changing images in the image manager

Now I've changes my theme with one which has a different bg-color I would also like to change the images in the image manager.

I can't change them in the image manager, changing the images in the upload folder doesn't work...

How can I change those images without having to modify everey article?

Solved it

changing the images in the upload map does work....
I've tried it with firefox and kept the same images (deleted templates-c and cleared the firefox buffer). But when opened with IE it worked well.

Took me an hour to solve this one.
