The "Server timezone" should be set to whatever timezone your server's clock is using.

You can determine that by running this script:

echo date('r'?>

does it it make a difference if i set the wrong server time zone? how do i run that script?
i also installed the Agenda x module and it displayed a date that's one day behind, does this have something to do with my server timezone setting or with the module itself?

By setting the wrong time your posts (and so on..) will display the wrong time. Look for instance at this site (Xoops.org), the time overhere is set wrong. This way if I post this reply at 13.48 it displays the wrong time 14.31(look below).

You can change the server time in your settings.

Create a file named (for example) date.php containing that one line of code. Upload the file to your server. You could put the file in the same directory as XOOPS. Then browse to the file, e.g. http://example.com/xoops/date.php.
