WebLog Module layout needs changing..can anyone help

In the front page list of entries on the weblog module, the entries are too close together and need an extra line.

it ends up like this

previous entry...blah blah

I have tried to hack the templates but cannot get it to work, does anyone know the answer?, or have a hacked version?
