Sounds like you have an extra folder in your module upload.

See the Module Unzip Flash Tutorial.

And the Module Upload Flash Tutorial.

OK, if you unzipped directly to the modules folder, you still may have an extra folder due to the zip archive. Open that folder and see if you see a file named "xoops_version.php" if that file is seen when you open the folder you have the correct folder uploaded. If you see another folder and no xoops_version.php, then you have too many folders uploaded.

Just a note: It is easier to unzip on your local computer, find the right folder, then upload the proper folder to the server.

HTH.

I have other tutorials on my site on this subject, and others.

I have other problems with that chatmx module. I installed it, everything looks ok. But when i write my nick and press enter the thing does nothing. It only refreshes the screen. O and I changed chmod of the cach folder to 666 and .txt files in cach folder to 777. Where could be the problem?

Most times when a module needs the server to write to a file (in your case the cache folder) the folder itself needs to be chmod 777 so it can create the text files. Recheck the documentation with the module for chmod settings.

I don't use this module, but as jdseymour says, the folder to upload is often nested inside the archive folder. E.g.

MyModule 2.01.zip
|
|
MyModule 2.01 (folder)
|
Readme.txt (file)
Extras (folder)
MyModule (folder) -- > upoad *this* folder only to 'modules'.

Here is the documentation about installing:
- INSTALLATION:
- Unpack the zip or tar.gz file un modules folder
- CHMOD to 666 cache folder and 777 cache/banned_ip.txt cache/msg.txt cache/users.txt files.
- Install the module in xoops

I did everything that says here but still no changes.

Sound like they have that the wrong way round. I would try 777 for the folder and 666 for the files. If that doesn't work, try 777 for the lot.
