Has anyone out there had any success in interfacing Open Office 2.0 beta with their XOOPS remote CMS? It seems to me like the new OO DB function would be a real asset in writing small localized apps.

I have a similar query placed on the Open Office site.

After a lot of effort, I was able to get Open Office 1 to access a MySQL database. After that, I couldn't think of anything particularly useful to do with it.

The beauty of this version of OO is that it has a DB front-end that looks a lot like Access forms-- handy for those of us with limited programming skills.



I hope to be able to build some forms that allow me to manipulate tables I create along with those from XOOPS itself.

Sooo... how did you get OO to link to a XOOPS DB?

I couldn't find a detailed procedure, but I found a few notes I had made in Feb 2004 when working with OpenOffice 1.1.0 on Windows 2000:

Installed MyODBC-3.51.06, downloaded as MyODBC-3.51.06.exe from http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-myodbc-3.51.html. This allows OpenOffice to interface to MySQL.
