if I would let registered user add their own avatars, what should I do?

Click on the Administration Menu link in the User Menu. Hover your cursor over the System Admin icon, select preferences from the popup menu, select and click Edit by User info Settings, The 11th entry down is "Allow custom avatar upload?"

Put a tick in the Yes button. Your done.

On the 12th entry on the page you can set the number of post to allow users to upload custom avitars.

Scroll to the bottom and save your changes.

I just joined XOOPs main site and I don't have an option to upload my own avatar. Does that mean the main XOOP site doesn't allow use of custom uploaded avatars. I saw the list of "face01, face 02 etc. but no upload option.

On XOOPS site after 10 post you are able to upload a custom avitar.
