Comments to news articles disappearing in flat mode.

On my site (http://www.perfectapathy.com), comments can be viewed only in nested or threaded mode.

When i select flat mode, comments completely disappear.

I have a custom theme and template set, however even with the default template set and theme, no comments appear in flat mode.
