On of the features I've seen else where has been the ability to check from admin whether or not you have a most current stable version. So, I'd like to see somewhere in the admin prefs where the admin can define what he wants to happen, like every day, or every time he logs in, XOOPS checks for a current version. Then XOOPS can display to him instantly, wait until he gets to admin, email, pm, whatever he wants. That way there may just be less sites without the newest version, which would make more sites that are stable. I could do it, but I can't think of any other way off the top of my head of doing it without having like an RSS block here on XOOPS that uses a specific arangement so that XOOPS itself can find it and get the version number.
