AMS: I'm not getting it

Since I couldn't get AMS to do anything in my old install, I'm now trying it under a fresh install. But the result is the same: whenever I make it my default module I get a blank white page when I go to home and this is after setting up three topics in it.

In other words, I can't figure it out. There's a logic to it that's not obvious to me, a newbie.

I agree AMS is complicated to set up. But AMS is News type module with lots of extra features. Those extra features adds to the complexity of the module, therefore more learning curve for the novice user.
