How do I install NewBB2.0 final from NewBB1.0?

First it says to replace your main.php file with a bug fix found herehttp://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1052403&group_id=41586&atid=430842] Bugfix for block update

But when I went to that page and clicked the download link at the bottom of the page I was taken to this pagehttp://sourceforge.net/tracker/download.php?group_id=41586&atid=430842&file_id=108292&aid=1052403
not a php file.

Then I noticed it says, "delete all files in your NewBB folder."
Does this mean to delete the entire NewBB 1.0 module? I'm not clear. I do not want to lose my forum entries that are there already.

Please assist. Thanks.

I asked this yesterday but got no response. I just want to make sure it doesn't die (it happens) without being addressed. It would really help out the people like me (which are growing every day I'm afraid) that aren't tech savvy but want to build a community site. Thanks for your time.

some posts be tracked and didnt see by someone can help you
btw for update newbb1 --> newbb2 you can rename your "newbb" folder to "newbb1" and then put newbb version 2.0 to "newbb" folder.(this way maybe faster than delete the folder)
you must close your site for upgrade.also read the readme file carefully

Thanks. I had some problems though updating to NewBB2 final.

I have the "<{$xoops_module_header}>" in my theme.

I replaced the main.php bug fix.

It said to "run the proper update script" -- is that the same thing as just going to system/admin/modules/ and running an update?

But my forum page still looks messed up.

I use a modified XOOPS default theme -- I added a java drop down menu to my site. But on the Forum page my drop down menu doesn't display right and the rest of the page seems to have "expanded".

I also get this error: NewbbForumHandler::getForums error::SELECT * FROM xoops_bb_forums ORDER BY forum_order

I tried with my dummy site (on my local comp), you have to turn off the forum first. Just uncheck the forum in the Admin Modules. After that do the update (manually, type www.site.com/modules/newbb/update/newbb1_to_newbb2.php) and follow the instruction there.

After you finished with updating the table. Please go to the System Modules again. Press update and then put the check on the Forum. and ... your forum will be updated :)

Btw, can someone tell me how to make backup for the forum ?

thank you

Thanks a lot.

Was all the info in one place to update from NewBB1 to NewBB2? It seemed like I had to find out about it piece by piece.

Can somebody take a look at this and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Here's everything that I did. Hopefully, someone with much more experience will correct me if I'm wrong.

Until you can get help from a more experienced XOOPster look this over.

1) First I made sure I had the "<{$xoops_module_header}>" in my theme between the <head > and </head > tags. It was already there so I didn't have to do anything here.

2) Then I replaced the main.php file which exist in the system/admin/modulesadmin folder with the bug fix found here:http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1052403&group_id=41586&atid=430842]

3) Next, I turned my site off.

4) I renamed my current Newbb folder (version 1.0) "Newbb1."

5) I uploaded the NewBB 2.0 final folder to my site.

6) Then I ran the update script by manually typing www.YOUR SITE NAME.COM/modules/newbb/update/newbb1_to_newbb2.php in my browser.

7) Next, I went to system/admin and I updated the module through that process.

It seems to work. And it LOOKS FANTASTIC! Great work guys who put this mod together.

You use a custom template set so please go to the template mamager and select the forum templates in your template set delete them one by one and generate them new, that should help you.
