OpenMute is a non-profit cultural organisation offering free web sites
with a set of dynamic web tools pre-installed. The advantage of
OpenMute’s sites is that they provide cutting edge, integrated web
technologies at very little or no cost. Primary among these is the
sites’ facility for continuous user updating: with an easy to use
administrative interface you can access the content of your site on an
ongoing basis through your web browser. OpenMute sites also allow you to
work collaboratively and to interact better with your group or public.
The tools include:

Forums – using your forum you can exchange messages and enter into group
discussions

Image galleries – enable you to quickly upload photos on the web or
share them privately

Wikis – help all site users to easily write and edit web pages, Wikis
are also perfect for storing commonly used documents

Web page editors – enable you to create ‘rolling news’ stories,
including web links, every day.

In addition to these, your free site is hosted at a personal web address
that you can choose (normally 'yourname.omweb.org').

OpenMute’s free service OM1 is part of a suite of tools, which also
includes OMXTRA, which offers extra customization and consultancy. All
the tools we make available are based on Free Open Source Software
(FOSS). FOSS is essentially a way of establishing and maintaining a set
of public domain software resources.
