Feature Request

Hello. THanks For The Hard Work. I have Few New Features I Like XOOPS My favorite Web Portal To Have.

1- You Can Put user Permessions For Downloads. for each download you Can add premissions to groups or diffirent download subjects. and you can put picture for each downlaod you add.

2-you can have stronger administration. because all the web portal systems and forums. only ban the users by thier ip or name.. and most poeple have modems. and it's very easy for them to reconnect it and get back.something like ban isp you can ban the isp of the person....i think it would really stand out beacause others don't have it. there will be still ways to get back. but like this it will be much much batter.
Thank You. :)

I agree that sometimes it is hard to control unruly people, but, what if you have 5 other users from the same ISP?

Good point jdseymour. For larger communities that issue could be much larger. Another solution would be to have some form of cookie tracking seperate from the current XOOPS cookies. That would still be defeated though if the offenders deleted their cookies. I don't think there is any 100% full proof way, but a combination of several would mean that only the most determined pest would still be a problem.

Re: Feature Request

well. here is another way. maybe we can ban the user by their hard drive serial number. or mac address. like some programs do. if that can happen. it will be a revolution in security for online portal systems... :)

Re: Feature Request

You should be able to ban an IP range with a regular expression in the ban IP field in the general settings. I know nothing about regex, so I haven't tried it - and there have been reports that it did not work perfectly - but it's worth the try.

On the downloads question, WF-Downloads supports permissions on a per-category and per-item basis. It's available on http://www.wf-projects.com
