Please upgrade your phpmailer libraries. Some of us who try to block spam have delays in our mailers. The version you use, v1.65 does not have a timeout value and dies when setup to use smtp because it floods the smtp daemon with commands before it is ready to accept commands. I manually upgraded to v1.72 which has a timeout value and it solved my problems.
