unable to connect to database

i have installed XOOPS many times but never encountered this problem. i am waiting for a response from my host to see if the prblem is at this end or not.

password is correct
database name is correct
username is correct
mainfile.php is written too and has correct information

but will not connect to the database at the end of the install . i checked via phpMyAdmin and the database is there.

any ideas?

as usual after posting you find the answer :)

i had a capital letter in my username which i dont normally do :)
all fixed....
